What Lou actually teaches

Ten skills, drilled until they’re automatic.

01

Correct approach to ground balls

Reading the hop before it happens, and getting the feet there early.

02

Proper footwork

The three steps that turn a hard chance into a routine one.

03

Proper throwing mechanics

Grip, transfer and release, from every angle a game will ask for.

04

Position specifics

What the job actually is at short, at second, at third.

05

Double plays

The feed, the turn and the finish, both sides of the bag.

06

Slow rollers

Charging, barehanding, and throwing on the run.

07

Different ground ball angles

Balls that are never hit straight at you, which is most of them.

08

Relays

Where to be, when to turn, and who is calling it.

09

Two-man drills

10

Soft hand drills

The drill Lou is known for.

Every date, up front

No session is a surprise. Eleven at Pollitt Drive, then four combined mornings at the Superdome in February and March.

Before you ask

Questions parents ask.

What if we miss a Saturday?

Sessions can’t be carried over, but tell us ahead and Lou will catch the player up.

Does my player need their own gear?

Bring a glove. We supply bats, helmets and the rest. Turf shoes or sneakers, no metal cleats.

Baseball and softball together?

Yes. The infield work is the same and the groups train side by side.

Can we watch?

Yes, there’s seating along the netting. We ask that the coaching stays with Lou.

What if it is full when we try?

Call us and we’ll tell you if a place opens.

Six places left in
grades 4-8.

Registration takes about three minutes.
